Welcome to Research for Community Organizing!

BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION: Principles of social research methods in the context of social work practice. Problem formulation, research design and role of research in social work, ethical issues, sampling, measurement, and data collection.

Wednesdays from 4:00PM to 5:50PM, room 328 (Fall 2021)

Hi! My name is Austin (pronouns they/he), and I’m your professor for Community Organizing Research (SSW 751 section 16). I’m a pretty big research geek and believe that social workers should be trained in critical methodologies – inclusive of qualitative and quantitative methods – to confront interlocking systems of injustice. I’m really looking forward to spending this semester with you and look forward to our many thought provoking conversations.
